Masquerading as a feature film (and I'm certain derided by the porn regulars back in the day, at least any who stayed awake), LONESOME HOUSEWIFE has dubiously been reissued by two competing video companies, After Hours and Something Weird. Both versions stink to high heaven.
Film was shot MOS, with narration linking it to another junker titled BANANAS, reissued in this same SWV Dragon Art Theatre series. One "Johnny Gonad" is supposedly a Canadian hero, working at a newspaper, but the footage is all sex, with uninteresting voice-over, making for a tedious sitting.
The hour-long After Hours version is 10 minutes more torture for the viewer than the abbreviated SWV version. Biggest difference, as the missing 10 minutes is merely generic sex, occurs by virtue of After Hours removing the soundtrack and replacing it with sub-Nitty Gritty Dirt Band muzak pretending to be '20s and earlier music, which is relentlessly annoying. For the record, original soundtrack includes pirated Muzak of hits "Galveston", "Bluesette", "Wichita Lineman", "I Love Paris", "Jean", "Windmills of Your Mind" and "Be Mine Tonight", most of them played twice.
